Axe vs Visage

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can overwhelm Axe with familiars is a common trap. The moment Axe lands a Berserker's Call on Visage and his birds, the fight completely flips. All those separate attacks from the summons give Axe a massive number of Counter Helix spins. The pure damage from the spins shreds the familiars and burns through Visage's Gravekeeper's Cloak much faster than he can handle. Even if Visage survives the initial lockdown, his primary damage source is often dead and his own defenses are broken, leaving him vulnerable.

This forces Visage to play a very cautious game once Axe has his Blink Dagger. He has to position himself far from his own familiars to avoid getting caught with them, which can be awkward and limit his effectiveness. Axe’s game plan is simple: find that one good jump to remove Visage and his army from the fight entirely. While a skilled Visage can use mobility items and careful positioning to stay safe, the constant threat of a single Blink and Call turning the fight is what gives Axe the upper hand.
