Axe vs Weaver

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by an Axe with a Blink Dagger is a nightmare for Weaver. Berserker's Call provides instant, area-of-effect lockdown that Weaver cannot dodge with Shukuchi or dispel with Time Lapse. The taunt holds him in place long enough for Axe's entire team to pile on. Even if Weaver survives the initial burst, a well-timed Culling Blade can finish the job, preventing any last-second escape. The fundamental problem is that Axe’s initiation directly counters all of Weaver’s primary survival tools, leaving him completely exposed.

This dynamic shapes the entire mid-game. Once Axe gets his Blink, Weaver is forced to play with extreme caution, unable to farm lanes aggressively or join fights without perfect vision of the enemy team. Weaver's team has to invest heavily in protecting him, while Axe's plan remains simple: find Weaver and use Call. Weaver can try to build defensive items, but the pressure Axe creates by simply being off the map severely limits his ability to carry the game.
