Expecting to dominate the lane with a boar is a common mistake against Dawnbreaker. Her spinning hammer combo clears out Beastmaster's entire zoo in an instant, completely neutralizing his lane pressure and harass. Without his summons to control the wave and chip away at her health, he loses his primary tool for creating space and setting up tower pushes. Dawnbreaker is left free to farm and can easily turn and fight him if he tries to trade hits, since her own damage output doesn't rely on fragile units.

This dynamic continues into the mid-game, where Beastmaster wants to group and push. Dawnbreaker excels at breaking up these pushes by initiating directly onto him. She's durable enough to often survive a Primal Roar and then turn the fight with her own team. Even if he tries to gank a different lane, her global ultimate can arrive to counter-initiate and punish the aggression.
