Beastmaster vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Picking Beastmaster into a Legion Commander creates an uphill battle from the start. Legion's Overwhelming Odds gets stronger with more units around, turning Beastmaster's boar and any other summons into a source of lane pressure and farm for her. Press the Attack also works as a strong dispel, letting her shrug off the boar's slow and nullifying one of Beastmaster's main tools for controlling trades. This culminates in the mid-game, where Legion Commander can easily Duel a Beastmaster who lacks a natural escape. He's often a straightforward source of bonus damage that helps her snowball.

The dynamic forces Beastmaster to play passively. He wants to apply pressure on towers with his army, but Legion excels at punishing split-pushing or isolated heroes. His own ultimate, Primal Roar, can sometimes set Legion up for a kill by stunning her target and pushing everyone else away. To succeed, the Beastmaster has to rely on superior team coordination, using his Roar to initiate on someone else before Legion can find her Duel. Without that advantage, he spends most of the game trying not to become her next victim.
