Beastmaster vs Lone Druid

How this matchup plays

Trying to isolate a target with Primal Roar is often complicated against Lone Druid. Beastmaster wants to lock down a hero and overwhelm them with his summons, but Lone Druid presents two valuable targets. Using the ultimate on the Spirit Bear feels like a waste of a long cooldown, but using it on the hero himself leaves the bear completely free to keep fighting. Beastmaster's boar and other controlled units also have a tough time trading into the bear, which is usually durable enough to withstand their initial assault and can clear them out to protect his hero.

This creates a tempo problem for Beastmaster. Where he normally wants to build an army and push down a lane, Lone Druid can often meet that push with his Spirit Bear, slowing the game to a pace that favors him. To succeed, Beastmaster often has to avoid fighting Lone Druid directly. Instead of forcing towers, he needs to use his hawk for vision and find pickoffs on Lone Druid's teammates. The matchup can turn into a strategic battle of map control, with Beastmaster trying to make plays elsewhere while Lone Druid tries to force direct confrontations.
