Beastmaster vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Picking Beastmaster into a potential Riki is a huge gamble, as Riki’s entire kit seems designed to dismantle him. Smoke Screen neuters the entire zoo, causing all their attacks to miss while silencing Beastmaster himself. Even if Beastmaster gets some units out, Riki can use Tricks of the Trade to dodge Primal Roar and clear the summons at the same time. Riki’s permanent invisibility also makes him the perfect predator for a hero who has no natural escape and likes to farm jungle camps between pushes.

This forces Beastmaster to play completely defensively from the mid-game onward. Any attempt to split-push or control an area of the map alone becomes a death sentence. Beastmaster needs his team to constantly provide Sentry Wards and be ready to back him up, which defeats his purpose as a space-creating initiator. Meanwhile, Riki gets to play his ideal game, hunting a high-value target who is almost always out of position by definition. Beastmaster ends up feeling more like a liability than a frontline controller.
