Brewmaster vs Pudge

How this matchup plays

Hooking a Brewmaster often feels like a mistake. He’s naturally durable and wants to be in the fight, so pulling him in can be exactly what he wants. If Brewmaster uses Primal Split, the tables turn completely on Pudge. The Storm panda can dispel Rot, and the Earth panda can use its stun to cancel Dismember, breaking Pudge's entire lockdown combo. However, the fight isn't one-sided. If Pudge can catch Brewmaster and land a full Dismember before Primal Split comes out, he can secure a kill. The whole interaction is a timing challenge between their key abilities.

Before Brewmaster gets his ultimate, Pudge has a clear advantage in lane and can threaten kills with a single hook. After that point, Brewmaster becomes much more confident, sometimes even walking at Pudge to bait the hook so he can split and counter-initiate. This forces the Pudge player to adapt. Instead of seeing Brewmaster as a primary target, he often has to shift focus to his opponent's supports. The outcome of their duels depends entirely on who gets the jump and forces their big spell first when the other isn't prepared to respond.
