Bristleback vs Doom

Casting Doom on a full-health Bristleback seems like the obvious play, but it rarely solves the problem on its own. The ultimate disables items and active spells, yet the core damage reduction from Bristleback's passive isn't turned off. The automatic Quill Sprays triggered by taking damage from behind also continue to fire. This means that even while silenced and taking damage over time, he remains incredibly durable from the back and continues to punish anyone chasing him. Doom can stop the manual spell spam, but can't remove the innate tankiness that makes Bristleback so difficult to bring down.

This dynamic forces Doom to be very selective with his ultimate. A solo cast on Bristleback is almost never enough to secure a kill; he needs his team ready to burst from the correct angle. For Bristleback, the goal is often to bait the ultimate early in a fight, turn his back, and let his passive and auto-quills wear down the enemy team. If Doom misuses his long cooldown, Bristleback's side gains a huge window to take control. The fight often hinges on whether Doom can catch Bristleback out of position and facing the wrong way.
