Bristleback vs Drow Ranger

How this matchup plays

Dealing with Bristleback is all about controlling his position, which is where Drow Ranger has a natural advantage. The constant slow from Frost Arrows makes it extremely difficult for Bristleback to turn his back to the fight. This forces him to take full damage from the front while trying to close the gap, denying the tankiness from his passive that he relies on to survive and stack Quill Sprays. On top of that, a well-timed Gust can silence his spells and push him away, giving Drow even more time to kite him safely from a distance.

This matchup is a game of spacing. Bristleback’s goal is to close the gap instantly, usually with a Blink Dagger or support from his team's initiators. If he can get on top of Drow Ranger, she dies very quickly. Drow's plan is to have her team create a front line so she can stand far back and methodically wear him down. As long as she can see him coming and maintain her distance, she can neutralize his threat before he ever gets to contribute meaningfully to a teamfight.
