Farming the map safely is difficult for Mars because his core tools are so ineffective against Bristleback. The worst-case scenario is trapping him with Arena of Blood. This doesn't isolate a target for your team; it creates a perfect cage for Bristleback to run down your allies with Quill Spray stacks. He can turn his back to everyone inside, making him nearly impossible to focus and completely disabling Mars's biggest teamfight contribution.

This advantage for Bristleback begins in the lane, where Mars can't trade effectively or deny him farm.
