Bristleback vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Trying to run down a well-positioned Sniper can feel impossible for Bristleback. Sniper has all the tools to keep his distance, using Shrapnel to create a slowing field and Headshot procs to stop any advance. This forces Bristleback to soak up a lot of damage just to get close. However, Bristleback's entire goal is to get close and spam his spells. If he does manage to close the gap, Viscous Nasal Goo makes it hard for Sniper to get away, and a few Quill Sprays will finish the job on the fragile marksman. The whole interaction is a test of range control versus gap close.

The outcome of this matchup usually depends on the other heroes in the game and key item timings. A Bristleback with a Blink Dagger or a team with strong initiation can make Sniper’s life a nightmare, as he can’t stand up to being jumped on. On the other hand, a team that can protect Sniper, provide vision, and create a strong frontline will let him safely whittle Bristleback down from a distance. Neither hero has a decisive advantage on their own; it comes down to which team better enables their hero’s game plan.
