Bristleback vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Fighting a farmed Spectre can feel like running into a brick wall for Bristleback. His whole plan is to spam Quill Spray in teamfights, but Spectre’s Dispersion reflects a portion of that area-of-effect damage right back at him and his team. This constant self-damage really adds up. While Bristleback is great at surviving physical attacks, Spectre's Desolate cuts right through his defenses with pure damage if he ever gets caught out of position, which often happens when he's chasing or running away.

The game is usually a race against the clock. Bristleback has a much stronger mid-game and needs to press that advantage hard, grouping up with his team to take towers and control the map. The goal is to end the game before Spectre gets her core items. If Spectre can survive the mid-game pressure and get farmed, the matchup flips. She can use Haunt to join any fight, and her late-game damage output and survivability eventually overwhelm what Bristleback can handle.
