Bristleback vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Facing down a Bristleback as a right-click carry is often a stalemate. Troll Warlord wants to stay on one target to build up Fervor stacks, but Bristleback is designed to punish anyone who chases him. This creates a tense situation where Troll has to decide whether to commit and hit Bristle's heavily-armored front, or try to reposition and risk getting kited and worn down by Quill Spray. During Battle Trance, Troll Warlord is locked in, often forced to hit whatever is presented to him, which can be a disaster if it's Bristle's back.

The duel usually comes down to itemization and who gets the jump. A Troll Warlord who surprises Bristleback with a Silver Edge can completely negate his passive and burst him down. Conversely, a Bristleback with a Heaven's Halberd can disarm Troll during his ultimate, leaving him helpless. Both heroes are strong at similar timings and want to force fights, so they frequently clash. The fight is a genuine coin flip that depends on which carry has the better items for the job and who makes the first mistake in positioning.
