Broodmother vs Crystal Maiden

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against a Broodmother comes down to clearing her spider army, and Crystal Maiden has the perfect tools for it. A single Crystal Nova slows the entire swarm, severely cutting their damage and chase potential. The real problem for Brood, however, is Freezing Field. One good ultimate can wipe out all the spiders at once, completely neutralizing a push or a teamfight contribution. Even Broodmother herself is vulnerable, as Frostbite is a reliable root that can hold her in place long enough for your team to collapse on her before she escapes.

This forces the Broodmother to play with extreme caution. Instead of taking over a part of the map and threatening towers, she has to constantly be aware of where the Crystal Maiden is. Brood will often try to find and kill the Maiden before committing to a fight, or build items specifically to survive the lockdown. On the other side, the Crystal Maiden's goal is to position safely and hold her spells. If she can stay alive and use Freezing Field on the main spider push, she effectively dismantles Brood's entire strategy for winning the game.
