How this matchup plays

Holding a lane against Broodmother puts Jakiro in a difficult spot. His area-of-effect spells like Dual Breath and Macropyre seem ideal for clearing out spider swarms, and Ice Path can lock down the hero herself. The issue for Jakiro is that Broodmother has the tools to play around his slow, telegraphed abilities. Inside her webs, her speed and regeneration allow her to dodge spells and heal off the damage over time. She can also split her spiderlings to avoid losing them all to a single spell, forcing Jakiro to expend a lot of mana to keep the lane from being overwhelmed.

The matchup often comes down to which hero gets to set the tempo. If Broodmother can isolate Jakiro and force him to react to her split-push, she can usually run him over. Her constant pressure taxes his limited mana pool and makes it impossible for him to be everywhere at once. If the game shifts to five-on-five teamfights, however, Jakiro’s value increases dramatically. His wide area control from Ice Path and Macropyre can completely zone Broodmother and her spider army out of a fight, giving his own cores the space they need to operate.
