Broodmother vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Clearing out an entire army of spiderlings with a single Anchor Smash is the heart of this matchup. The ability not only damages all the small units but also reduces their attack, crippling Broodmother's main source of pressure and farm. Tidehunter's natural tankiness from Kraken Shell also means he can stand his ground against the physical damage from Brood's army, even inside her webs. He fundamentally invalidates her swarm-based game plan by himself, making it incredibly difficult for her to build a critical mass of spiders to overwhelm a target.

This dynamic forces Broodmother to play a completely different game. She can't reliably pressure a lane that Tidehunter is in, as he can comfortably farm and shrug off her harassment. Later on, Broodmother wants to split-push and create pressure, but Tidehunter can simply show up, clear her army, and threaten a Ravage if she overextends. This forces the Broodmother player to avoid him entirely or build items that don't rely on her spiders, completely disrupting her typical path to victory.
