Broodmother vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other feels like a calculated risk, since each has a key tool to deal with the other. Viper's Nethertoxin is a serious problem for Broodmother, as the break disables her passives and the area damage quickly clears out spiderlings. Broodmother is at a clear disadvantage trying to fight inside that zone. On the other hand, Broodmother's webs give her the mobility to play around Nethertoxin's cooldown and location. Viper is slow and has no escape, so if Brood gets to him away from his puddle, he's very vulnerable. This leads to a standoff where neither can easily dictate the fight.

Viper typically has a strong laning phase against Broodmother, using his poison to make farming difficult and often forcing her into the jungle. As the game progresses, however, Broodmother can use her map-wide pressure to simply avoid him. Viper is excellent at defending a lane against her endless spiders, but he can't be everywhere at once. The game often comes down to whether Broodmother can win by taking over the rest of the map, or if Viper can successfully force a direct confrontation and shut her down.
