Chaos Knight vs Doom

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can solve a Chaos Knight problem with one big single-target spell is the main trap here. Doom's ultimate is designed to delete one hero from a fight, but Chaos Knight isn't really one hero once he uses Phantasm. If Doom targets the real CK, the illusions are unaffected and will keep hitting, often killing Doom or his allies anyway. If he guesses wrong and uses his ultimate on a Phantasm illusion, he's thrown away his most important cooldown for absolutely nothing. Either way, Chaos Knight's core threat remains on the field, and Doom has no other answers for the sheer physical damage coming his way.

This dynamic means Doom can't play his intended role. He wants to be the one dictating fights by removing a key enemy, but instead he's the one reacting defensively. Once Chaos Knight has a Manta Style, it becomes even harder for Doom to find the right target in the chaos of a fight. Doom’s best bet is to try and avoid Chaos Knight entirely and use his ultimate on a different high-value target. This often leaves his own backline exposed to CK’s Reality Rift, which is a fight they can't win.
