Chaos Knight vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst Spectre with Phantasm illusions is a common trap. Chaos Knight's entire combo relies on his illusions overwhelming a single target, but Dispersion reflects so much damage that CK's own ultimate can wind up killing his illusions and crippling the real hero. This neutralizes his main source of kill potential before it gets going. Meanwhile, a lot of Spectre's damage from Desolate ignores armor, which makes Chaos Knight feel a lot less tanky than he should when he gets caught out. It's a fundamental mismatch of how each hero wants to fight.

This dynamic puts Chaos Knight on a strict timer. He has to dominate the early and mid-game, creating so much pressure that Spectre can't farm the items that make her a problem. If the game goes even or late, the tables turn completely. Spectre can use Haunt to force a fight on her terms, and her team can easily identify the real Chaos Knight because he'll be the only one taking reflected damage from all the chaos. CK ends up trying to play around her, while she's actively looking for him.
