Picking a glass cannon mid like Shadow Fiend means you're always thinking about assassins. Clinkz is built to exploit exactly what makes Shadow Fiend vulnerable: his low health and lack of escapes. The constant threat of being found by an invisible hero forces the Shadow Fiend player to spend resources on detection and play defensively. During the laning stage, Clinkz can use Searing Arrows to make it difficult for Shadow Fiend to collect his Necromastery souls and build damage, creating an early advantage that can be hard to come back from.

This pressure from Clinkz is strongest in the early and mid-game, as a few successful ganks can completely derail Shadow Fiend's momentum. The SF player's main goal is to survive this window and farm key items like a Black King Bar or armor. Once teamfights begin, a farmed Shadow Fiend with Requiem of Souls often contributes more decisive area damage than Clinkz can.
