Crystal Maiden vs Drow Ranger

How this matchup plays

Catching a Drow Ranger usually means locking her down, and Crystal Maiden's Frostbite is a perfect tool for the job. A good root can easily spell death for a hero with no built-in escape. The matchup isn't that simple, though. Drow Ranger’s Gust provides an instant silence and knockback, which is a clean answer to Freezing Field. If Crystal Maiden is caught channeling her ultimate, Drow can shut it down from a safe distance and then quickly finish her off. Both heroes are fragile, so whoever gets the jump usually wins the exchange.

This creates a tense cat-and-mouse game across the map. In lane, Drow Ranger can leverage her attack range to bully the slow-moving Maiden. Later on, success depends entirely on vision and positioning. Crystal Maiden's team wants to use smoke or wrap around to find and root the Drow before she can react. Drow's team wants to do the opposite: establish vision, play from the edges of fights, and pick off the vulnerable CM before she can contribute her powerful spells. It really comes down to which team better executes their game plan.
