Crystal Maiden vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a slippery Invoker can feel impossible, but Crystal Maiden's Frostbite is an instant root that does the job perfectly. It holds him in place long enough for a successful gank, stopping him from getting key spells off. However, Invoker has some of the best tools in the game for dealing with her. A well-timed Tornado or Deafening Blast will instantly cancel Freezing Field from a safe distance, and Cold Snap can easily interrupt it too. He can also use EMP to drain her mana pool, leaving her with little to contribute.

The laning stage often revolves around Crystal Maiden trying to set up kills on Invoker, while he tries to survive and punish her rotations with Sun Strike. Later on, teamfights become a positioning duel. Crystal Maiden looks for a safe spot to channel her ultimate, maybe with a Blink Dagger to surprise him. Invoker's job is to find her first, using his mobility and long-range spells to pick her off before she becomes a threat. The outcome really depends on which team better enables their hero's game plan.
