Crystal Maiden vs Luna

How this matchup plays

Laning against a Crystal Maiden puts Luna on the back foot from the start. Luna is a fragile hero early on with no escape mechanism, making her very vulnerable to Frostbite. A single root can easily lead to her death if a teammate follows up. Even if she survives, the constant threat of Crystal Nova and Frostbite can zone her out, slowing down her farm and delaying key item timings. This early pressure is the core of the matchup; Crystal Maiden directly attacks Luna's plan of farming up to become a late-game threat.

As the game progresses, the dynamic shifts. Luna will eventually get items like Black King Bar or Manta Style, which can negate or dispel Crystal Maiden's control. At that point, Luna can often run straight at CM and kill her quickly. The matchup then becomes about positioning and timing. Crystal Maiden needs to play from the fog, using her spells to enable her cores to kill Luna before she can activate BKB. Luna, in turn, will often try to jump the back lines with Eclipse to eliminate the threat CM poses before a fight breaks out.
