Crystal Maiden vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Sniper depends entirely on whether you can get on top of him. Crystal Maiden has the tools to do this with Frostbite, a perfect root to hold him in place for follow-up. The problem is her own low mobility and fragility. Sniper can easily whittle her down from well outside her spell range, using his superior reach from Take Aim to punish any attempt to walk at him in the open. The matchup often boils down to which hero gets the jump on the other; one good Frostbite can secure a kill, but one bad step can get CM killed before she's useful.

As the game progresses, item choices define the fight. A Crystal Maiden with a Blink Dagger becomes a genuine threat, able to initiate on Sniper from fog and lock him down. A well-positioned Sniper, however, can make this impossible, staying far behind his tanks and using Shrapnel to slow any advance. Fights often hinge on this interaction. If CM can find her opening, her team can burst the Sniper. If Sniper’s team provides good vision and protection, he can safely pick off the Crystal Maiden before she ever gets in range to cast a spell.
