Crystal Maiden vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can simply run down a slow support is the big mistake here. Troll Warlord needs to stick on a target to build up his attack speed, but a single Frostbite can stop him in his tracks. While he can still attack whatever is in his melee range, the root prevents him from chasing as his target walks away. This control becomes lethal when combined with Freezing Field. Being rooted inside that spell is a disaster for Troll, as he’s forced to soak up immense damage without being able to walk out.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Crystal Maiden’s slows and root make it consistently difficult for Troll to stay on his preferred target in teamfights. The Troll Warlord player is forced to react, usually by building an early Black King Bar or by carefully waiting for CM to use her spells before committing with his own ultimate. If he gets caught without a plan, his aggression is easily shut down, letting Crystal Maiden’s team kite him until he's dead.
