Crystal Maiden vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Trying to save an ally with Cold Embrace often feels less secure against a Crystal Maiden. Winter Wyvern's spell grants immunity to physical attacks, which is great against most cores, but all of Crystal Maiden's damage is magical. This means she can still finish off a low-health hero inside the ice block with a Frostbite or Crystal Nova. It effectively bypasses one of Winter Wyvern’s key defensive tools, turning what should have been a guaranteed save into a very risky delay that might not even work. This forces the Wyvern player to be much more careful about when and why they commit their heal.

Across the game, this dynamic gives Crystal Maiden a consistent way to apply pressure. In lane, her repeated magical nukes are difficult for Wyvern to trade against. Later on, while Winter's Curse is a perfect tool for canceling Freezing Field from a safe distance, CM's core contribution doesn't solely depend on her ultimate. The constant threat of her basic spells undermining Cold Embrace creates a small but persistent advantage. Winter Wyvern can still have a huge impact, but she has to respect that her signature save is partially countered before the fight even starts.
