Dark Seer vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to stick to a target protected by Surge can be difficult, but Phantom Assassin has the tools to manage it. Her low-cooldown Phantom Strike lets her re-engage a target even after they've been sped away. Dark Seer's main problem is that he has no way to stun or root Phantom Assassin himself. He can disrupt her with Vacuum or try to burn her down with Ion Shell, but she can often ignore both with a Black King Bar. Her entire game plan revolves around executing a single hero quickly, which often happens before Dark Seer's sustained area damage can swing the fight.

This dynamic means Phantom Assassin can dictate the pace of the mid-game. She forces the enemy team to group up to avoid getting picked off, which limits their ability to farm and control the map. A well-placed Wall of Replica can create a powerful illusion of a farmed PA, but it's not a foolproof solution. Phantom Assassin can often simply turn and kill the illusion or ignore it to finish her primary target. Dark Seer's success relies on his team providing the lockdown he lacks and surviving the initial jump, which isn't always possible.
