Phantom Assassin (PA) Counter Picks — 7.41f
Who counters Phantom Assassin (PA) in Dota 2 7.41f? Counter picks and matchups for Phantom Assassin, ranked by win rate from ranked matches.
Phantom Assassin is a snowball carry whose Blur evasion, Phantom Strike blink, and Coup de Grace crits delete single targets. She farms and fights immobile, low-evasion-counter heroes: Nature's Prophet, Chen and Mars can't survive her bursts. PA is hard-countered by tanks, true-strike, and execute: Wraith King respawns and out-tanks, Axe Calls and Culls her, and Tidehunter or Spectre survive or out-scale. Draft tip: Phantom Assassin is a brutal snowball carry into squishy drafts; she's countered by Wraith King, Axe, MKB/true-strike, and break.
In Dota 2 7.41f, the heroes that counter Phantom Assassin hardest are Wraith King, Pudge and Nyx Assassin — Phantom Assassin wins only 44.0%, 46.8% and 46.8% of ranked matches against them.
How to counter Phantom Assassin: why these picks work
- Wraith King — Reincarnation demands the assassin's trick work twice in a row — and Wraith King's sustained lifesteal trade is exactly the long fight her burst kit avoids.
- Nyx Assassin — Spiked Carapace returns her own crit: the bigger the Coup de Grâce, the harder Phantom Assassin executes herself on the reflect.
- Troll Warlord — Whirling Axes' blind makes her physical-only damage whiff at the worst moments, and Troll simply out-lasts her burst window in an extended melee trade.
- Axe — Berserker's Call ignores Blur, Counter Helix punishes her rapid attack rate, and Culling Blade executes through whatever HP her burst left behind.
