Dark Willow vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

A Tusk trying to initiate on Dark Willow often finds it's a test of reflexes. The travel time on Snowball gives Willow a clear window to activate Shadow Realm, making her untargetable and letting her dodge the entire combo. Even if Tusk does manage to get on top of her, he's not safe. A well-placed Bramble Maze can root him the moment he arrives, turning his aggressive play into a mistake. Cursed Crown adds another layer of threat, as the delayed stun can easily catch Tusk after he's committed his spells, leaving him exposed for a counter-attack.

This dynamic creates a standoff throughout the game. During the laning phase, neither hero can consistently bully the other or secure solo kills without a significant mistake from their opponent. In mid-game teamfights, the outcome depends on who gets the jump. A Tusk who can initiate from vision with a Blink Dagger might catch Willow before she can react. On the other hand, if Dark Willow establishes vision control first, she can use her control spells to catch Tusk out of position and prevent him from starting a fight for his team.
