Picking one of these heroes into the other is a bet on which style of damage will win out. Dark Willow relies on getting a clean jump with her control spells to unload Bedlam's full burst. Shadow Realm lets her dodge Venomancer's initial Poison Gale and reposition for an attack. However, Venomancer’s whole kit is designed to punish heroes who need to get close. A single application of his poisons can force Willow to retreat or die after her spells are done, and Plague Wards can block her paths or reveal her while she's trying to set up a gank. It’s a classic conflict between immediate burst and slow, grinding damage over time.

In teamfights, the outcome depends almost entirely on positioning. If Dark Willow finds Venomancer isolated, she can usually kill him before he has a major impact. But if Venomancer lands a big Poison Nova on her team first, it becomes incredibly risky for her to run in. She has no way to remove the debuff and is too fragile to survive being slowed in the middle of a fight. Each hero forces the other to play perfectly, leading to an even exchange where the first major mistake often decides the engagement.
