How this matchup plays

Fighting between these two often comes down to a duel of defensive spells. Dark Willow can use Shadow Realm to become untargetable, making it impossible for Windranger to land a Shackleshot or aim Powershot. This forces Windranger to either guess where Willow will reappear or switch targets. In return, Windrun allows Windranger to create distance with a burst of speed, letting her escape the range of Bedlam or reposition before Cursed Crown can trigger its stun. Both heroes are good at forcing the other to waste their most important cooldowns, leaving neither with a clear upper hand.

The winner of an engagement is usually the one who gets the jump or has better vision. A well-placed ward can give Windranger the opening she needs to land Shackleshot on an unsuspecting Willow before she can react. Conversely, if Dark Willow initiates from invisibility or a smoke, she can often apply her root and stun before Windranger can activate Windrun to flee. The matchup is less about a direct counter and more about which player can better control vision and patiently wait for the other to make the first mistake.
