Dark Willow vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Trying to survive with Shadow Realm is a losing battle against Zeus. His Lightning Bolt provides True Sight, completely ignoring her untargetability and revealing her for follow-up. On top of that, Static Field and Thundergod's Wrath will damage Dark Willow regardless of her state. She relies on being able to dodge single-target spells and attacks, but almost all of Zeus's damage is area-of-effect or global, bypassing her core defensive mechanic entirely. She's left with very few options to avoid his constant magical pressure.

Across the game, this means Dark Willow is never truly safe. Zeus can easily bully her during the laning stage, and his global ultimate prevents her from recovering in a side lane later on. In teamfights, she has to get close to be effective, while Zeus can sit comfortably in the backline. For the matchup to work, the Willow player needs to rely heavily on teammates to create openings and buy a Black King Bar as soon as possible. Zeus, on the other hand, can simply focus on positioning well, knowing Willow has no reliable way to get to him or survive his damage.
