How this matchup plays

Catching Ember Spirit is the main problem for most heroes, but Dawnbreaker has the right tools for the job. Her Celestial Hammer provides a reliable way to close the gap and slow him down. Once she's on top of him, Starbreaker's stun and damage are hard for the fragile Ember to survive, especially if he gets caught without a Fire Remnant ready. Dawnbreaker is also naturally durable enough to withstand Ember's initial burst, allowing her to weather his assault and turn the fight around. Her ability to keep him locked in place is the core of this advantage.

This dynamic forces Ember Spirit to play with constant caution. He can't split push aggressively because a Solar Guardian can turn any gank into a certain death from anywhere on the map. In teamfights, a good Dawnbreaker will often make it her job to dive and neutralize Ember, forcing him to use his remnants defensively and retreat from the fight early.
