Dawnbreaker vs Mars

How this matchup plays

Getting trapped inside Arena of Blood feels a lot less scary for Dawnbreaker. She has multiple ways to ignore Mars's signature ultimate, either by launching Celestial Hammer over the wall for a quick escape or by simply casting Solar Guardian to fly out and help a teammate somewhere else. Her offensive tools are also a direct answer to his defenses. Starbreaker hits in a full circle, which completely bypasses the frontal damage reduction from Bulwark. Even the stun from a well-aimed Spear of Mars can be negated if she times the immunity from her Starbreaker swings correctly.

This advantage holds up across the entire game. Mars wants to lock down a key target and let his team do the work, but Dawnbreaker is too slippery for that plan to be reliable. His teamfight initiation is constantly threatened by her ability to either escape or turn the fight with her own global arrival. Mars is forced into a reactive game, trying to catch Dawnbreaker when her spells are on cooldown. Dawnbreaker gets to be proactive, using her mobility and durability to pressure the map, knowing that Mars lacks the specific tools needed to pin her down.
