Dawnbreaker vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Dawnbreaker usually goes poorly for Tusk. His entire combo of Snowball, Tag Team, and Walrus Punch is designed for a quick kill on a fragile target. Dawnbreaker is anything but fragile; she's naturally durable and her Luminosity passive heals her through a lot of his follow-up damage. Once Tusk has used his spells, he is left in a bad spot. Dawnbreaker can easily turn on him with Starbreaker and Celestial Hammer. She simply outlasts his initial burst and wins the extended trade with her lower cooldowns and built-in sustain.

This dynamic extends across the entire map. Tusk wants to create pressure by ganking lanes and finding pickoffs, but Dawnbreaker's Solar Guardian is the perfect answer to that plan. Any time Tusk initiates on an ally, Dawnbreaker can join the fight from anywhere, turning a potential kill for his team into a lost fight. This forces Tusk to play much more cautiously, hindering his ability to snowball a lead. As the game goes on, Dawnbreaker farms faster and scales into a much more impactful teamfighter, while Tusk struggles to find relevance against a hero who directly counters his strategy.
