Dazzle vs Lich

How this matchup plays

Lining up a perfect Chain Frost only to have the primary target survive with Shallow Grave defines this matchup. Lich wants teams to be clustered together for his ultimate, and Dazzle’s Shadow Wave often encourages his own team to do exactly that to maximize healing. This creates a dangerous tension where Dazzle’s own spells can inadvertently set up a fight-winning ultimate for the enemy. While Dazzle can save one person, he can’t stop the bounces from ravaging a tightly packed team, forcing his allies into awkward, scattered positions.

The lane can be a struggle for Dazzle against Lich’s constant Frost Blast harass, which can be difficult to out-sustain. In teamfights, the entire game can hinge on the timing of these two signature abilities. A successful Dazzle will bait out the ultimate and use Grave reactively, nullifying Lich’s primary contribution. A successful Lich will wait for Grave to be used on a different target, or catch heroes clumped together just out of Dazzle's cast range. Frost Shield also complicates things by reducing the physical damage Dazzle's cores need to finish off a kill.
