Dazzle vs Mars

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst someone inside Arena of Blood feels hopeless when Dazzle is on the other team. Mars excels at locking down a single hero for a quick kill, but Shallow Grave completely negates this game plan. The target survives the initial burst, effectively wasting Mars's biggest cooldown and leaving him vulnerable. While Mars is trapped with a hero he cannot kill, Dazzle can continue healing his ally from afar with Shadow Wave, which also chips away at Mars and anyone else inside the ring. The core of what Mars wants to do is directly and easily undone by Dazzle's basic kit.

This dynamic forces the Mars player into a difficult spot for the entire game. His main teamfight contribution is consistently neutralized by a single, well-timed spell. The only real counterplay is to try and initiate on Dazzle himself, but that requires finding him first, and a good Dazzle will be positioned far in the backline. Mars has to execute a perfect, difficult initiation to have a chance, while Dazzle simply needs to wait and react. This gives Dazzle's team control over the tempo of every major fight.
