Dazzle vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Locking down a single target is Shadow Shaman's whole game plan, but trying to do it against Dazzle creates a standoff. If Shadow Shaman can Hex or Shackle Dazzle before he can react, the fight is usually won. If he goes on a different hero, however, a well-timed Shallow Grave completely negates the kill attempt. This turns ganks and teamfights into a direct duel of initiation versus reaction. Dazzle can't save himself from a good jump, but he can absolutely save anyone else, which makes choosing a target tricky for the Shaman.

Across the game, this dynamic forces both heroes to play around each other's positioning. Shadow Shaman will often have to commit his Blink Dagger simply to get on top of Dazzle first, taking him out of the fight so his team can secure a kill. Dazzle, in turn, must play from the back lines and be ready for that aggression. Even if a Grave is successful, Shadow Shaman's Serpent Wards can still wear down the target, making them easy to kill the moment the effect expires. The outcome of any fight often hinges on which of these two supports gets their key spell off first.
