Death Prophet vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

A committed Exorcism is Death Prophet's entire mid-game plan, but Invoker has a deep toolkit for dismantling it. Before she gets spell immunity, a single Tornado can lift her, wasting the ultimate's duration and letting his team reposition. It also dispels her Spirit Siphon, cutting off her sustain. Once Death Prophet does get a Black King Bar, Invoker isn't helpless; he can use Ice Wall to create distance and massively slow her advance, or simply Ghost Walk to disappear and wait out the BKB duration. He dictates the engagement, while she has to hope her one big spell is enough.

This dynamic shapes the whole game. Invoker can often control the lane with his spell combinations, delaying Death Prophet's critical item timings. In teamfights, Invoker's goal is to bait the Exorcism and then use his control to kite and disengage until it expires. Death Prophet is left trying to force a fight that Invoker is uniquely equipped to reset or escape from. She wants a sustained brawl, but Invoker excels at breaking fights into smaller skirmishes where he has the advantage.
