Death Prophet vs Lich

How this matchup plays

Facing a Death Prophet who has activated Exorcism is usually scary, but Lich has all the tools to defuse her aggression. Sinister Gaze is the primary counter, forcing her to walk backward and wasting precious seconds of her ultimate's duration. Even without that, Frost Shield creates a massive zone of slowed movement that makes it difficult for her to stick to any target. Her entire plan of running at the enemy team falls apart when she can't control her own hero or close the distance needed for her ghosts to do their work.

This dynamic defines the mid-game. Every time Death Prophet wants to group her team to pressure a tower, Lich can stall the push. A well-placed Frost Shield on a key defender or the tower itself buys critical time. If her team groups up to fight around her, they create a perfect setup for Chain Frost to bounce between them. Death Prophet is forced to buy a Black King Bar early, but even then, she often finds her ultimate has been kited away without achieving much.
