Death Prophet vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Fighting in the mid lane feels like a duel where both heroes have the tools to win. Death Prophet can use Spirit Siphon to drain health and sustain through Shadow Fiend's Shadowraze pressure. On the other hand, Shadow Fiend has the raw magical burst to kill Death Prophet before her drain and ultimate can take over a fight. Since neither has a reliable stun to guarantee their spell combo, the lane often comes down to who can out-maneuver the other to land their abilities first. It's a close contest of attrition versus burst damage from the very start.

As the game progresses, their objectives diverge. Death Prophet wants to group up and take towers with Exorcism, creating a slow but powerful siege. Shadow Fiend excels at finding pickoffs and bursting a key target with Requiem of Souls to break a teamfight open. If Death Prophet can survive SF's initial burst, her sustained damage from ghosts and Siphon will usually wear him down. If Shadow Fiend lands a big ultimate, he can completely halt DP's push.
