Death Prophet vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map with Exorcism is Death Prophet’s whole plan, but she runs into a brick wall against Shadow Shaman. Her ultimate encourages her to be in the middle of the fight, running at the enemy. This makes her an easy target for Shadow Shaman's long-duration disables like Hex and Shackles. Being held in place for that long during Exorcism is a death sentence; her team's entire push evaporates when their frontline raid boss gets locked down and blown up, completely wasting a major cooldown and handing over all momentum.

As the game goes on, Death Prophet is forced to play with extreme caution whenever Shadow Shaman is off the map. She can’t initiate a tower push or a teamfight without risking her most important spell being nullified. This often forces her into an early Black King Bar, delaying items she’d rather have. Shadow Shaman doesn’t face this pressure. He can threaten objectives himself with Mass Serpent Ward or simply wait for Death Prophet to commit and then disable her, effectively dictating the terms of engagement across the mid-game.
