Disruptor vs Doom

How this matchup plays

Casting Doom on a key target often feels like a guaranteed kill, but a well-positioned Disruptor complicates that plan. If Doom has to run in, Glimpse can completely reset his initiation before he even gets a chance. Even if Doom successfully casts his ultimate after blinking in, he is then a melee hero stuck in the middle of the fight. Disruptor can immediately punish this with Kinetic Field and Static Storm. He doesn't save the Doomed ally, but he makes it very difficult for Doom to contribute further or escape after using his biggest spell.

This creates a cat-and-mouse game around teamfights. Doom wants to find an angle to jump and instantly use his ultimate, ideally on Disruptor himself to prevent any response. He can also build a Black King Bar to ignore Disruptor’s control and guarantee his spell goes off. Disruptor plays to counter this by staying back and using vision to see the initiation coming. Because Doom's plan relies so heavily on a single spell and a single target, Disruptor's ability to punish that one move or even send him away provides a consistent, if small, advantage.
