Disruptor vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by a Shadow Shaman is a problem for any hero who needs a moment to cast their spells. His Hex is instant, and that's often all it takes to interrupt Disruptor before he can use Kinetic Field or Static Storm. While both heroes want to lock down opponents, Shadow Shaman's ability to immediately disable a target gives him a way to stop Disruptor's entire sequence. This can be enough to secure a kill before Disruptor can contribute his own powerful teamfight control.

The lane can be a stalemate, but the dynamic shifts once initiations become common. A Shadow Shaman with a Blink Dagger can find and eliminate Disruptor before he can react. However, the advantage is minor because Disruptor has excellent counter-initiation. A well-timed Glimpse can completely punish a Shaman who blinks in, sending him back to base and leaving his Serpent Wards undefended. Ultimately, the fight often comes down to which support gets the jump on the other, but the speed of Hex gives Shaman a slight upper hand.
