Doom vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Fighting into Legion Commander is a losing proposition for Doom because his core spells are answered so well. A well-timed Press the Attack can dispel Infernal Blade's stun and burn, while the heal and attack speed make her much harder to kill even under his ultimate. More importantly, she can still cast Duel on a Doomed target. Since Duel forces both heroes to attack each other, it turns Doom's signature disable into a simple man-fight, which Legion Commander is built to win. The kits are so opposed that they don't even play well together; both want to be the single-target initiator, but her tools are sharper for the job.

Legion Commander will often hunt Doom directly once she has her Blink Dagger. Winning a Duel against him not only secures permanent damage but also removes a major teamfight ultimate from the game for a long time. Doom’s best approach is to play patiently, waiting for Duel to be used on an ally before he commits his own ultimate. He can’t afford to be the primary initiator if LC is off the map, as she can easily turn his aggression against him. His game becomes about reacting, while she gets to be proactive.
