Doom vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Fighting Muerta often hinges on stopping her during Pierce the Veil, and Doom seems like a natural answer. It's not a clean solution, though. While Doom's ultimate will mute Muerta and stop her from using her other spells or items, it doesn't prevent her from attacking. She will remain ethereal and immune to physical damage, and her right-clicks will still have their bonus magical damage. This means that even with Doom cast on her, she remains a very active and dangerous threat who can continue fighting, which is not the case for most heroes caught by that spell.

This trade-off makes teamfights very tense. Muerta will try to position herself to bait out the Doom on a different target before she commits her own ultimate. The Doom player, in turn, has to decide whether to hold the spell for her and risk an ally dying, or use it on someone else and let Muerta have free rein later. The fight often comes down to which team can better protect their carry during these key moments, or which player can outmaneuver the other to force a favorable engagement.
