Doom vs Night Stalker

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map and tempo from the first night cycle is where Night Stalker pulls ahead. His entire game plan revolves around hunting isolated heroes, and Doom is often trying to accelerate his farm away from his team to get ahead. The main issue is Night Stalker's silence, Crippling Fear. He can run at Doom and shut down his ability to use Scorched Earth to escape or, more importantly, to cast his own ultimate. This forces Doom into a reactive, defensive posture when he would much rather be using Devour to build a significant gold lead and hit his item timings.

This dynamic can snowball quickly. A successful early game for Night Stalker means he can severely limit where Doom is allowed to farm, constricting his side of the map and making it dangerous to even show in a lane. Doom's main objective becomes surviving these gank attempts to hopefully get a Blink Dagger and have his ultimate ready. He needs his team to create space and provide defensive vision, but that's difficult when Night Stalker is the one dictating the pace. If Doom can't get the jump before getting silenced in a teamfight, his impact is severely reduced.
