Doom vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Farming for that first big item is a constant risk for Doom. Nyx Assassin is always lurking, ready to punish any misstep. He can easily scout with Vendetta and drain Doom's limited mana pool, slowing his timings. The bigger problem is Spiked Carapace. If Doom ever tries to use his ultimate on Nyx Assassin, the spell's own damage triggers Carapace, stunning Doom in place. This turns Doom's most powerful tool into a liability, making it almost impossible to safely single him out as a target.

As the game develops, this threat keeps Doom on the defensive. He can't farm aggressively or split-push for fear of getting picked off by a roaming Nyx. In teamfights, Doom is forced into a bad choice: he can ignore Nyx and let him freely disable the backline, or he can try to use Doom on him and get stunned for his trouble. To win, Doom has to rely on his team to provide vision and lock down the Nyx Assassin first, or he must wait out Spiked Carapace before committing his ultimate. This gives Nyx's team a huge amount of control over how fights begin.
