Doom vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to which hero gets the jump first. Doom’s ultimate is a premier counter to a hero like Primal Beast, as it disables all his abilities and prevents him from charging in or using Trample. The trade-off is that Primal Beast is naturally very durable with Uproar and can sometimes survive the full duration, especially with help. On the other hand, if Primal Beast gets a clean initiation with Onslaught and follows up with Pulverize, Doom can’t cast his own ultimate and is taken out of the fight immediately. This creates a standoff where neither hero wants to be the first one caught.

Early in the game, Primal Beast can apply a lot of pressure, forcing fights and disrupting Doom's ability to farm with Devour. As teams start grouping, the entire game can revolve around this key interaction. Doom will position himself to land his ultimate on the Primal Beast to start a fight, while Primal Beast will be looking for an opening to charge and lock down Doom before he becomes a threat. Fights are frequently decided by which of these two lands their signature lockdown on the other, making the outcome highly dependent on positioning and team execution.
