Doom vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Thinking Doom is a natural counter here is a common trap. The theory is sound: a BKB-piercing disable that mutes and silences is the perfect tool to kill an elusive hero. The problem is applying it. A good Puck is one of the hardest targets to lock down in the game, using Illusory Orb to create distance and Phase Shift to dodge the stuns or initiations that would let Doom get close. It's not enough for Doom to have his ultimate ready; he has to find the perfect opening on a hero designed to give him none.

This matchup often comes down to a game of vision and patience. Doom needs a Blink Dagger at a minimum, and usually relies on his own team's lockdown to create a window to cast his ultimate. Puck, in turn, plays around his team's vision, trying to control fights from a safe distance with Dream Coil and poke from the edges. If Doom's team can successfully smoke and find Puck out of position, the fight is won. If Puck can kite and stay safe, Doom is left with a powerful spell he can't use on the target that matters most.
